Veteran Flips Homes For Homeless Vets!

in Uncategorized

Kirby Atwell is a veteran who lives in Frankfort, IL. Atwell's first and foremost passion is flipping old homes in order to provide fresh new homes to other veterans in need.

Atwell went to West Point Academy. Once he graduated he quickly went straight into active duty in the Army until 2011.

However Atwell refused to do any relaxing once he got back home!

“I got home from the Army on a Tuesday and was out the door on Wednesday morning, looking for houses to buy and rehab,” he said.

For a time Atwell was able to flip a handful of houses on his own but he soon realized he was going to need a little help. Before long, Atwell partnered up with his longtime friends, Janelle and John Swiercinsky to form a local real-estate investment company known as iCandy Homes. The company saw more than its share of success after flipping over 70 properties.

Even with this success, Atwell knew that he wanted to focus more on veteran aid so he launched his very own company known as Green Vet Homes.

“I learned so much from my experiences at iCandy Homes, but I felt a pull to fully focus on a ‘do-good’ mission," he said. "I’m still able to work with iCandy, but now also able to put my efforts toward other opportunities. Veteran aid is something I’m truly passionate about."

Green Vet Homes specializes in sustainable products and creating as little waste as possible when flipping homes as well as helping veterans in need.

“I’m excited to continue working closely with the HUD-VASH Program; their program is incredible, and it’s motivating for me to be able to provide quality homes for these deserving men and women," Atwell said. "I’ve always been driven to do something unconventional in terms of my career path, but having so much meaning behind your work is the ultimate motivation. Knowing that we’re going to be as green as possible while restoring homes, and knowing that we’re housing heroes in need—you can’t put a value on that.”
