General FAQs

1. What is the Healing Heroes Network?

Healing Heroes Network is a 501(c)3 charity that provides financial assistance to military personnel who have been injured in the line of duty in Afghanistan or Iraq after 9/11/01. For more information on Healing Heroes Network, check out the About Us page.

2. Why is Healing Heroes Network needed?

Today, over 2.1 million Service Members have deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and Operation New Dawn (OND). Of those, more than 4,900 service members have been killed in action from these conflicts,  and more than 46,600 have been wounded. (defense.gov)

Getting injured during battle isn't a new concept, but with advancing technology, more and more soldiers are surviving but suffering from injuries that go beyond what we can see or have experienced before. Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder are occurring on an exponential level.

While the Veteran Affairs Medical System does a great job helping many veterans heal, it is simply too overwhelming to take all the careful care and thought needed in helping everyone. Unfortunately, many warriors are put on waiting lists, have been denied services not covered by the VA, or become frustrated with the system's procedures.

Healing Heroes Network aims to fill in the gaps that the VA are unable to cover. We step in to provide financial assistance when it's needed.

3. When was Healing Heroes Network founded?

Healing Heroes Network was founded in December 2008.

4. How was the organization founded?

Despite the assistance and aid offered by the military and the government, wounded military personnel and their families face numerous obstacles while caring for a wounded service-member. Watching injured Heroes struggle to get the medical treatments they so desperately need is what inspired Healing Heroes Network's founders to take action.

5. Is Healing Heroes Network a legitimate charity?

Healing Heroes Network was granted tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service functioning as a charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Donations to the organization are deductible as charitable contributions to the fullest extent of the law. Healing Heroes Network's Federal I.D. number for donations is: #26-3714861.

6. What type of services do you provide?

We offer financial assistance for a wide range of services. Our current running programs include Healing Heroes, Tablets for Heroes, and Welcome Home, Hero.

The Healing Heroes program provides financial assistance for treatments and services that are delayed or inaccessible through the Veterans Benefit system.

The Welcome Home, Hero program aids in providing financial assistance to military families of wounded heroes for basic needs, including but not limited to: food, shelter, and clothing.

We encourage you to use our website as a resource, which covers all Healing Heroes Network programs and services in more detail.

7. Who does the Healing Heroes Network  serve?

The Healing Heroes Network provides financial assistance to military personnel who meet our eligibility requirements. They must have:

  • been injured in Iraq or Afghanistan
  • been injured in the line of duty
  • been injured on or after September 11, 2001.

Unfortunately, we are unable to help veterans from ALL wars. Our founders started the organization after specifically seeing warriors of OIF/OEF/OND suffering. If you are not eligible for our services, there are still many other organizations whose focus may be in your area. Feel free to Contact Healing Heroes Network if you have any questions regarding eligibility.

"We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone."--Ronald Reagan

8. I think I am eligible to become a Healing Heroes Network Hero. How can I join Healing Heroes Network or receive services?

To submit an application for services, go to the Programs page and select the program which fits your needs.

Once your contact form is received, then Healing Heroes Network will send you application paperwork, we will then review it for completeness and determine eligibility. Healing Heroes Network will notify you within one to two weeks whether your application has been approved, if more information is needed, and what the next course of action will be.

If you have any questions regarding eligibility, please feel free to Contact Healing Heroes Network.

9. I am a medical professional and would like to provide services to wounded veterans. How can I join your network?

Begin an application by going to the Provider page. Depending on your practice, print a PDF of the corresponding form and fill it out as completely as possible. Mail or fax the completed application to Healing Heroes Network. Healing Heroes Network will review your application and add you to our list of providers.

10. Where is Healing Heroes Network located? Do you have a location near me?

Healing Heroes Network is headquartered in Palm Harbor, Florida. While we provide financial assistance to injured service members nationwide, at this time we don't have any existing offices outside of Florida.

11. How can I help the injured Heroes of Healing Heroes Network?

As a self-funded organization, the financial assistance we provide is made possible only through the generosity of our supporters. By making a tax-deductible donation to Healing Heroes Network, you can personally make a difference in the lives of these Heroes.

There are also many other ways you can help the wounded warriors of Healing Heroes Network. For a list of different ways you can help injured veterans and the mission of Healing Heroes Network, please see the Support page.

12. How can I make sure I get regular updates and news on Healing Heroes Network and its Heroes?

14. Can I start a Healing Heroes Network chapter in my area?

Healing Heroes Network does not operate in branches or chapters.  If you'd like to get involved in your area, we suggest looking at our Support page and learning about how you can help Healing Heroes Network in your community.

15. What makes Healing Heroes Network different from other veteran or military organizations?

Healing Heroes Network isn't unique in our gratitude to veterans. We aren't the only group to wear red on Fridays or send cards to troops during the holidays. Where Healing Heroes Network makes a difference is in how we create lasting, intimate connections with our wounded Heroes to ensure they have the necessary tools to return to life after combat.

Since December 2008, Healing Heroes Network has provided thousands of therapeutic treatments, including Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Counseling, and more. Most needed therapies are ongoing (for example, the average HBOT regime is 40 treatments), rather than a one-time fix.

Healing Heroes Network aims to heal our service members, so they can become capable to do things they now need others to do for them.

The number of lives truly touched by our services are immeasurable. Many of our veterans have children, spouses, parents, and friends who notice the changes in our Heroes after treatments. They will be the first to tell you how their own quality of life and happiness has increased thanks to Healing Heroes Network.
